Consistent with the UK government’s open data agenda and in response to the market demand for company accounts data, Companies House’s has announced the launch of its Free Accounts Data Product.

The download format is Inline eXtensible Business Reporting Language (iXBRL), the same format required to submit company statutory accounts to HMRC.

The free service is updated daily on the Companies House website as iXBRL filings are received. It offers a downloadable file containing the individual iXBRL data of “all accounts registered electronically the previous day”. The Companies House is also making a year’s worth of previous data available as monthly files.

The Companies House is part of the Public Data Group (PDG), a group aimed at maximising the value and access of the data each member holds, and in turn identifying and delivering efficiencies and synergies to reduce the cost of data for user.

AMOSCA commends this effort to increase access to data and transparency. If you would like to know more about our leading tools and solutions to produce iXBRL, please see the Report Authority website by clicking here.
